Pedaling for a Cause: How Cycleman Indore Aniruddha Jain is Reclaiming the Streets

In an era where city streets are dominated by the relentless hum of motor vehicles and choked by pollution, one man in Indore is steering change in the opposite direction on a cycle.
Meet Aniruddha Jain, widely known online as Cycleman Indore. He is recognized as a dedicated traffic warden who manages local traffic entirely from his bicycle. ChangeForLife sat down with Aniruddha to discuss his journey, what drives him to volunteer on the chaotic streets every day, and his crucial message for today's youth.

The Spark: A Personal Loss and a Call to Action

Every mission has a turning point. For Aniruddha, the drive to change road safety came from a deeply personal tragedy.
"There are certain moments that hit you hard. For me, it was losing a close friend in a road accident. I was sitting right there when it happened," Aniruddha recalls.
The tragedy was compounded the very next day. While sitting near Apollo Premier with his best friend, he witnessed a reckless driver hit a cyclist and simply speed off.
"That incident really hit me. People don't even respect cyclists on the road. If someone is riding a bicycle, others should maintain a safe distance and show basic respect. I realized that educating people was absolutely necessary. I knew a step had to be taken, a change had to be brought, and that's why I jumped into this."

For a whole year, Aniruddha kept his volunteer work a secret from his family. "It’s a tough task," he admits. "My dad didn't even know for the first year that I was going out into the traffic to do this volunteer warden work.”

What Inspires Cycleman Daily

When asked about his daily motivation, Aniruddha points directly toward the concept of national service (Desh Sewa). He believes that giving back doesn't require grand, monumental gestures it just requires your time.
"If you truly want to see your country grow and progress, every individual should dedicate at least two hours a day to national service (Desh Sewa)."
For Aniruddha, his identity is cleanly split by the clock. "If you meet me in the morning or afternoon, you meet Aniruddha," he smiles, pointing to his helmet. "But in the evening, this time belongs entirely to Cycleman. That’s why Cycleman is here right now."
Through his presence on the busy intersections of Indore, he hopes to inspire others to step up. He believes that by raising awareness, more citizens will either choose to volunteer themselves or, at the very least, pass on vital traffic awareness to the people around them.

The Core Message to the Youth: Bring Back the Bicycle & Follow the Rules

Aniruddha’s message to the younger generation focuses heavily on health, environmental responsibility, and structural civic duty.
1. Reclaim the Cycle
"People have completely forgotten how to ride bicycles," Aniruddha warns. "The moment they wake up in the morning, they start their motorized vehicles. Even if they just need to go to the local grocery shop, they grab a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler."
He stresses that choosing a bicycle yields massive benefits:
● Health: It drastically reduces the risk of lifestyle diseases like heart attacks.
● Financial Savings: You save money on petrol, which can be redirected toward better uses.
● Environment: Zero emissions mean zero pollution for the city.
2. Respect the Laws of the Land
Aniruddha emphasizes that civic sense is an extension of patriotism.
"In India, our Constitution and laws mandate rules like wearing a helmet while riding. If you truly respect India and the Indian Flag, you must show that respect by following all the traffic rules.”

Key Takeaway from Aniruddha’s Journey

The biggest lesson we can learn from Aniruddha Jain is that true patriotism and civic responsibility don't require monumental platform speeches they start at the grass-roots level with our own time and actions. He teaches us that choosing sustainable living, respecting public safety laws, and dedicating just a couple of hours to community service can actively save lives and transform a city.

"ChangeForLife salutes Aniruddha Jain for his unwavering dedication to making Indore's streets safer and greener. Stepping out onto chaotic intersections night after night purely out of a desire to protect others and serve the nation is the ultimate definition of a true changemaker. Thank you, Cycleman, for pedaling through the chaos to guide us toward a better, more responsible tomorrow.”
